I was hanging out at one of my favorite webmaster boards, just before Christmas, and I came across and interesting post. It was titled ‘Choose your own adventure porn’ and it intrigued me.
I’ve heard of, and seen on many occasions, ‘interactive porn’ before and found it quite disappointing. There are some feed sites that many gay sites use where the user –that’s you and I – are able to select who does what to whom and how. Basically what you have at these interactive sites are full length porn videos that are filmed in sections. So you can click one guy’s mouth and another’s dick and see the suck scene… basically they do every possible combination during filming, and probably twice, so you have all possible combination’s in the final film that’s then technically arranged in sections. But all you are really doing is viewing part of a scene in a certain order according to your choice: not my idea of interactive.
However, here’s the next level: Boycrush have just started doing something new and original. (Well, some straight sites have already done it but this is the first time I’ve seen a gay site doing it.) What happens is this: you’ve got a DVD style set up with a horny porn story unfolding, you’ve got various characters and various choices as the movie progresses. You can make decisions at key stages, decide who goes home with home, who gets picked up, who gets fucked and so on. And it really is up to you. This sounds like more than just ‘pick part of a scene and call it interactive’ porn to me!
But beware; the guys behind this hot new way of viewing porn tell us that, ‘There are choices that lead to you getting turned down for sex. The guy running out on you. You being relegated to jerk off alone. There’s one plot where the protagonist can get revenge by jacking off into a watermelon then feeding it to all the mean twinks. Also there is one complete path that, if you make a series of dumb choices, you can watch the entire movie and not see any porn. But just like in the books you can always “cheat” and go back to your last choice and redo it.’
The books they are refer to are the ‘choose your own adventure porn’ books from the 1980’s, popular in the USA.

So, now you can still enjoy those older, interactive porn movies where you select who does what to whom, but now you can add this next level of interactivity to your hot viewing. What comes after that? Well, I know from my webmaster chat pages that some companies are looking at the next stage of interactivity: suck as having multiple plot lines and filming from your point of view, which means having to figure out all the permutations of what would happen if the viewer chose this, not that… and so on. The main stumbling block is the cost of post production apparently, but sure as eggs is eggs someone is going to do it and bring us a realistic, our POV, totally interactive movie experience. In the meantime, enjoy Boycrush and their taken on it – it’s certainly a step up from what we’ve seen before. Boy Crush is also iPod and iPhone compatible but there is no app at this time.
